CREDIT REPORT GUIDE

How to get your free credit reports

Find the official route and know what you are requesting.

For the three nationwide credit reporting companies, start at AnnualCreditReport.com ↗. It is the federally authorized request site. The CFPB says you can currently view updated reports online for free each week. Check the official site for the latest availability.

Choose your reports

Request reports from Equifax, Experian and TransUnion. They may contain different information because creditors do not always report to all three. Read each report separately and save it securely if you need to review it later.

Report versus score

A free report shows account and credit-history information. It may not include a credit score. You do not need a paid score or monitoring plan to obtain your free report through the official route.

Protect your information

Enter identity details only on the authorized request site or directly with the reporting company. RightCreditReport.com never asks for your Social Security number, account details or a copy of your report.
